Welcome to Spoonsful of Sugar, a vibrant agency
run by Sue Lawson   placing
au pairs both in the UK and abroad.

Sue has had au pairs
herself for a number
of years to help with her
two children and to help
around the home and so
understands both the needs
of the family and the au pair.

Spoonsful of Sugar provide a
personal, proactive and above all
friendly service ensuring that au pairs
and families are well matched and both enjoy a positive experience.

It can be extremely rewarding for everyone involved with both parties
benefiting from each others cultural backgrounds and many go on to forge longlasting relationships.

It can also however, be a little bit daunting. If you are a family hosting an au pair for the first time, it can be quite challenging to welcome a new person into your home. If you are an au pair staying with a family for the first time, it can often be unsettling until you find your feet and if you are a family whose current au pair is returning home, the thought of starting all over again with a new au pair can be less than appealing.

However, at Spoonsful of Sugar, we aim to take away all of the stress
and provide you with a professional and well considered service.
We are always here to provide on-going help and advice when needed and we positively welcome your feedback.

Today!

It's Monday! Get ready to kick start the week and banish those Monday blues!

In England, the names we give to the days of the week are derived from both Roman and Latin with some later Germanic influences. The Romans dedicated each day of the week to one of their gods with the exception of Sunday and Monday which they named after the Sun and the Moon.

Monday is the 'day of the moon' and it is often associated with the ebb and flow of our emotions. We've all had that 'Monday morning feeling' after having spent the weekend winding down and enjoying our free time with family and friends - Monday often comes as abit of a shock to the system!

But let's change that trend! Let's make Monday a positive day and set ourselves one achievable goal for the week:

  • why not start that healthy eating regime you keep talking about
  • arrange a get together with friends you haven't seen for a while
  • get the cookery book out and try a 'new' recipe that the whole family will enjoy - you may surprise yourself with how well it is received!
  • smile more - it's great for toning your facial muscles and it really does give you a warm fuzzy feeling inside!

I find it hard to get going on a Monday morning and I think most people need a few cups of strong coffee before they feel human. But it can be a great day to 'start again'. All those things that you didn't accomplish the week before can be achieved this week instead. The saying, 'today is the first day of the rest of your life' is so true. So let's get started!
