Can you afford ‘not’ to have an au pair?

In the current economic recession many
families from all walks of life are re-assessing the way they run their house-holds.

We are finding that more & more mothers and fathers with pre-school and school age children are returning to work sooner than they had planned in order to supplement the house-hold income and single parent families are continuing to juggle even more balls in the air. It is a very fine balancing act between family, home and work commitments and this in turn can place an enormous amount of stress on the whole of the family.

So why don’t more families get additional help?

The main problem seems to be the cost implication.  Many people have cleaners and they may even have outside help with the ironing, they use baby- sitters, use after school activites, holiday camps/ sports clubs however, all this additional help added together can be costly.

Au pairs on the other hand can give you 25 hours of their time for a minimum of £65.00 per week plus 2 evenings baby-sitting per week. An au pair plus would give you 35 hours of their time for a minimum of £85.00 per week plus 2 evenings baby-sitting.  Au pairs can also offer valuable foreign language tutoring for your children and they may also be able to help with looking after an elderly relative.

Surely this makes far more financial sense. You say "where’s the catch?"

Well, it would appear that there really isn’t one. The au pair seems to be someone who a small percentage of the population have kept quiet about for years. To find out more take a look  through our website or contact us directly and we will happily answer any questions you may have.
